SERIOUSLY?
So, I was driving to work this morning and I passed a bus shelter that was being cleaned by ShelterClean. The gentleman was working away at sweeping up trash. As he finishes, he drops his cigarette butt on the ground, steps on it to put it out... AND WALKS AWAY. With broom and dustpan in hand, he LEFT the butt on the floor of the shelter, got in his truck, and moved on to the next bus shelter. SERIOUSLY??? How sad is it that cigarette butts are no longer considered litter?

Hey Becky! Hello, my name is Bob L., manager of Shelterclean in Phoenix. My cohort in LA caught your blog when his daughter was looking up info on the CO. and came across your remark. Well, let me tell you ,am I red faced! This is not what I would like our appearance to the public to be. We do a well needed service to the public and I am embarassed by the behavior exhibited by our employee. If you would be so kind as to give me details of the incident I would like to 'educate' my people about the image they portray. time, place, direction of travel, pick up truck or spray wash. thank you: rlassner@shelterclean.com
Hello Bob!
I have to say I'm rather surprised to hear from someone at ShelterClean. My comment wasn't something I posted as a derrogatory or negative reflection of the company itself. It was just a general observation on people in general. It amazes me that a student in California found the post and it was mentioned to anyone in management. I agree that the service you provide is important and appreciated by all who use the public transit system. I am impressed that I was contacted and steps taken to address the situation.
I don't remember very many details of the occurance any longer. I had to re-read my post to refresh my memory. It was something I saw while I was waiting at a red light. I take Olive/Dunlap to work between 8-9am, so it was somewhere between 51st Ave and 19th Ave. I can't remember where exactly. I was headed east and the bus stop was on the other side of the street. I think it was a regular truck, but I didn't write down any vehicle information. I don't have a description of the gentleman either. I'm sorry I can't provide more information.
Becky
P.S. I also emailed this to you in case you check that first.
Thanks for responding. I am glad to hear that the maintenance was being done on the other side of the street-as that goes along with our policy regarding work during peak hour traffic. After I realized that your original blog was in October I concluded that this was an incident that will be used to educate my team but that it happened too long ago to address it in any other manner. We will use this incident to impress upon ourselves the importance of image projection as it were. I welcome all feedback, good and bad, as it pertains to our service to thhe community. After all there can be no 'bad' feedback as it can be used for good.
Thanks again, Bob
